Bud Matthews Services has been providing HVAC, plumbing, appliance, and design/build services in Chapel Hill, Pittsboro, and the surrounding area for more than 40 years. Every day, we’re grateful to Chapel Hill and Pittsboro residents for trusting us with their homes, and we recognize the value of turning that gratitude into service. Since our earliest days, Bud Matthews Services has believed in giving back.
In that spirit, we’ve spent the last year breaking ground on some pretty great community projects—from building sustainable gardens to helping create positive opportunities for the children of Chatham County. Since it’s customers who make this work possible, we wanted to share a few of these projects with you in this week’s blog.
Take a look:
Making Shade at Cure Nursery
Cure Nursery in Pittsboro, North Carolina is a small native plant nursery specializing in native trees, shrubs, perennials, grasses, ferns, and vines. To aid them in their mission of protecting and nurturing native flora, we helped build a structure for a giant shade cloth. This shade cloth filters enough light to reduce Cure’s water needs by more than 50%, but lets enough light in to allow for the necessary photosynthesis process. We were proud to partner with two other local businesses on this project: Fitch Lumber of Carrboro who gave us the wood at cost, and Carolina Supply of Burlington who donated the piping that runs across the top of the shade structure. Head on over to Cure Nursery (if you haven’t already!) to bask in the shade and pick up some beautiful, native plants for your yard!
Sustainable Education at Willow Oak Montessori
Willow Oak Montessori is a public charter school in Pittsboro, North Carolina, and Noah Matthews is a proud Willow Oak parent! With a donation from Cure Nursery, Bud Matthews Services created a native plant pollinator garden, complete with compost-rich soil. We were thrilled to work on this exciting landscaping project, which will help provide an education in sustainability and the natural sciences to the children of Willow Oak. Added Bonus: Noah’s twins Molly and Micah, age seven, helped with the planting!
Building Better Futures with The Boys & Girls Club
Commissioner Kyle Shipp, along with Chatham County School Superintendent Dr. Anthony Jackson, is working hard to get a Boys and Girls Club up and running in the town of Pittsboro. This afterschool and summer program helps young people build academic success, enact good citizenship, and live healthy lifestyles. That’s a mission Bud Matthews Services can get behind, so we pledged $10,000 towards getting the club started. We had fun attending the Pancakes Pave the Way Fundraiser last month, and we look forward to seeing the progress on this important new Pittsboro project.
Thanks for Helping Bud Matthews Give Back!
Without the trust and support of homeowners in Chapel Hill, Pittsboro, and surrounding areas, we couldn’t work so hard to help create positive change in the community. We’re grateful to each of you for trusting us with your homes.
Have a community project that Bud Matthews Services could help with? Reach out! We’d love to hear from you!
Best,
The Bud Matthews Services Team
