Bud Matthews Services Spreads Holiday Cheer

Posted on: November 30, 2021

Bud Matthews Santa Clause

Since our earliest years, Bud Matthews Services has always cared about giving back to our community. This winter, we’re teaming up with the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation of Orange County to help make Christmas a little more merry for families in need. Many people have heard the phrase “Toys for Tots,” but not everyone knows that this organization was founded in 1947 by Major Bill Hendricks, USMCR. By 1948, Toys for Tots was officially adopted by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves, and the Marines themselves collected and distributed toys throughout the nation. In the same year, the very first Toys for Tots poster was created by Walt Disney! The mission of Toys for Tots, as defined by the U.S. Marine Corp, is to provide a tangible sign of hope to economically disadvantaged children. Now, that’s a mission Bud Matthews can get behind.

Giving Back to Youth

Over the years, our company has made it a priority to focus our community efforts on giving back to youth in our community.

Willow Oak Montessori

Last spring, Bud Matthews Services worked with Willow Oak Montessori to create a native pollinator garden on the school grounds. In addition to beautifying the school, the pollinator garden will serve as a source of sustainable education for the children at Willow Oak.

Kidzu Children’s Museum

A Chapel Hill favorite among parents and kids—Kidzu Children’s Museum is a place of learning, hands-on activities, and lots of joy. Bud Matthews Services was proud to be a sponsor for their recent Fall Benefit.

Boys and Girls Club of Pittsboro

This afterschool and summer program is dedicated to helping youth build academic success, become good citizens, and live healthy lives. We were proud to donate funds to help get the Boys and Girls Club of Pittsboro up and running.

Marine Toys for Tots of Orange County

Throughout the holiday season, our service techs will be putting on their Santa hats to help collect toys and non-perishable food items for Orange County’s Marine Toys for Tots program.

How to Donate to Toys for Tots

Want to help us bring a little bit of hope to economically disadvantaged families during this holiday season? If so, we’d love to make it easy for you. Here are three ways to donate your new, unwrapped toy or non-perishable food item:

  • The first and easiest method: Simply hand your donation to your Bud Matthews Services tech at the time of service. Our team will take it from there!
  • Drop off your donation at the Bud Matthews Services office (545 Old Farrington Road, Chapel Hill, 27514) between November 3rd and December 10th. We’ll be accepting donations Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm.
  • Can’t drop off your donation and don’t have a service date scheduled? Just give us a call at 919.929.0203, and we’ll set up a time to pick up your donation.

Thank you for helping us give back to our community in Chapel Hill and beyond!
